Why are valentines always an eleventh-hour affair? ๐
If any of you and your little loves are in the same boat as our family, here’s a quick tutorial for the COLOR-BURST VALENTINES we made yesterday in our homeschool!
All you need to make these valentines are some basic craft cupboard essentials:

- white cardstock
- heart templates or stencils
- acrylic paint
- medium to large paint brushes
- scissors
- glue sticks
- pens/pencils
Let’s get artsy!
“This is SO fun, Mama. I am just loving this.” -The Captain, age 9

#1. Trace hearts onto white or ivory cardstock.

#2. Dot the opposite sides of paper with any collection of paint colors you like.

#3. Dampen your brush and get sweeping.

Work from one end of the paper to the other in single, long strokes. You can remove excess paint after each stroke and be careful to not over-work each section or you will be left with a gray or brown sheet. The goal is to make one pass over each dot of paint in long rows. But do feel free to add more paint and experiment as you go!
#4. Let dry, then cut out hearts.

#5. Print and cut out tag lines (included at the end of this post) and glue to your valentines.

#6. Personalize and sign.

#7. Flatten under big, fat books (as needed).
#8. Hand-deliver or pop in the mail!
Here’s the tag lines we made, ready to download and print! Just click the link below.
